Episode 15

₿HS015: From Fear to Confidence – Lessons from 2023

SHOW TOPIC:

It’s been one year since Tali and Scott formally finished homeschooling their kids and left the corporate world.  They focus on giving back to homeschoolers, women Bitcoiners, and veterans. Tali and Scott use the week between Christmas and New Years to reflect on the prior year and goals for 2024.

IN THIS EPISODE, YOU'LL LEARN:

  • Tali’s surprise note to herself
  • Last December is when everything really started with this journey.  They finished formal homeschooling and a corporate at the same time.
  • Until visiting Bitcoin Park, they had felt like they were on an island in terms of meeting and talking with Bitcoiners.
  • That is where they first played Hodl Up with Bitcoiners and not just their family and friends.
  • One aspect that changed is going from the stepping-off moment when they committed and today, when they have more confidence.
  • It’s one thing to understand what Jeff Booth has articulated about not working in the system you’re fighting.  It’s another to apply that understanding and take action.  It can be a scary prospect.
  • The game Hodl Up helped open opportunities to meet people but Tali and Scott learned throughout the year that this is actually part of something that was much bigger than themselves.
  • It is so important to get out and meet people in person.
  • If you have something to give, then give back.  For Tali and Scott, this is with homeschoolers, women Bitcoiners and veterans.
  • Hodl Up has proven to be an effective bridge builder with pre-coiners.
  • The whole journey of 2023 stemmed from an understanding that Tali and Scott are trying to bring awareness of Bitcoin to new people.
  • We need to put ourselves in the shoes of others to understand how they perceive the world in order to reach them with messages about Bitcoin, sound money, etc.
  • People won’t pivot until they personally have a need or they personally  see the impacts of the fiat system.
  • Tali started OrangeHatter podcast because she saw a gap where women were not necessarily being spoken to in a feminine way.
  • Create touch points.  Meet people where they are.
  • With purpose comes fulfillment.  Working on something bigger than themselves has made the past year so rewarding for Tali and Scott.
  • For Bitcoin adoption to continue, we have to reach women and specifically moms.
  • Brainstorming ways to connect in 2024

Tali:

it was Such a critical component in myself believing that Bitcoin is a

2

:

thing that I should pay attention to

3

:

Scott: it started out with the

game, but throughout the course of

4

:

the year, it became more and more

clear that this was really something

5

:

that was much, much bigger than us.

6

:

And we want to really give that next

generation the tools that they need, and

7

:

multiple generations, like long after

we're We're here and this is how we

8

:

can help contribute to that and that's

the reason for this podcast This is

9

:

just another step in that evolution.

10

:

Tali: as Bitcoiners, we can't

ever take those glasses off again.

11

:

We're now just seeing the

world completely differently.

12

:

Scott: It's another thing when

you actually put yourself in a

13

:

parachute and go up and jump out.

14

:

Right.

15

:

And so when you take a leap,

whether it's to homeschool.

16

:

It's to leave your job and do something

different to start a new adventure

17

:

There's a moment there.

18

:

You have to make a decision I'm gonna

go I'm gonna go forward with this and

19

:

that was our moment back in December

20

:

.

Tali: Welcome

21

:

everybody to Bitcoin homeschoolers.

22

:

Today is the last episode

we will do in the year:

23

:

And Scott and I thought it would be

fitting for us to do a year end recap,

24

:

just to share with you our journey.

25

:

The reason for The idea came from an

unexpected surprise in our mailbox

26

:

today, I received a handwritten

card from myself that I wrote in

27

:

December 2022 as an exercise that I

did with ,a group of people, and I

28

:

had completely forgotten about it.

29

:

It came in the mail and, I read it and

it's just, it's such a wonderful reminder

30

:

to look back over the last 12 months

and just appreciate all that we have

31

:

gone through all the, all the different,

milestones that we have accomplished.

32

:

I'd like to share with you

something I wrote in my card.

33

:

Uh, I wrote to myself a year ago.

34

:

it says to myself in December 2023,

I hope your year has been filled with

35

:

accomplishments and breakthroughs.

36

:

I hope the other year you have

celebrated your wins more than

37

:

you have pointed out the misses.

38

:

So Scott and I are going to take our own

advice and just look back and share with

39

:

you are some of our wins and losses.

40

:

Scott: Where do you want to start?

41

:

Tali: Well, we can do it chronologically.

42

:

So

43

:

I'll just start with

44

:

the last December.

45

:

That was really when

everything started for us.

46

:

So up until then I have been a full

time homeschooling mom with four

47

:

kids that recently graduated high

school, and I was suddenly done and

48

:

Completely free with my schedule and

Scott has stepped away from corporate

49

:

, It was the first time that I

visited Bitcoin Park, because Scott

50

:

and I had talked about Bitcoin.

51

:

Those of you have heard our story.

52

:

I was orange pill by his

board game huddle up.

53

:

And the problem that we faced was

where we are in Kentucky, we just were

54

:

not able to find other Bitcoiners.

55

:

And even though we were fully convinced

that Bitcoin was something we wanted

56

:

to pursue and invest ourselves

into, we didn't know how to start.

57

:

We were watching YouTube videos, we were

reading books and checking out articles,

58

:

but it was just not the same as having

somebody sitting down next to us and

59

:

telling us face to face how to like step

by step how to, you know, um, buy Bitcoin,

60

:

move things from wallet to wallet, and

just being truly a part of the ecosystem.

61

:

So we visited some local Bitcoin meetups

here, which all unfortunately turned

62

:

out to be crypto investment clubs.

63

:

So we decided to make the

three hour trek to Nashville.

64

:

Scott went there in November and

then brought me there in December.

65

:

And it was the first time that, at

least for me, I Came in to a space

66

:

with just everyday people who are all

interested in the same thing that we were.

67

:

We wanted a better alternative to

what's happening in our fia system.

68

:

And it was the place where we first

met Matt Odell, where we first play

69

:

a game of hollow up with people

who were strangers, not friends and

70

:

families who are doing us a favor.

71

:

And it was the first time We realized

that this was a space that we wanted

72

:

to develop ourselves full time

73

:

Scott: So what comes to mind as you

recall that is I don't think our

74

:

confidence was where it is today.

75

:

If you look at where we are

today, we're just, we're in

76

:

a completely different spot.

77

:

Back then we, we made a decision that

we were going to make a change and that,

78

:

that experience you just described was.

79

:

Like that's stepping off moment for

us stepping out of for you is all the

80

:

homeschooling years because you were done

with all the formal schooling and for

81

:

me it was leaving corporate and to me I

Looked back in that and was a scary time.

82

:

It was like, what are we doing?

83

:

We don't know what we're doing.

84

:

We think this is right

We're gonna go for it.

85

:

And I'm very glad we did but at the

time if you if I would have Answer

86

:

the same question back then I would

have been I would have had a lot of

87

:

fear Fear about what we're doing.

88

:

How are we gonna take care of the family?

89

:

How are we gonna make this work?

90

:

So There's a big moment.

91

:

That was a big moment.

92

:

So

93

:

Tali: I remember having a discussion

with you in the kitchen about whether

94

:

or not We should play it safe and

go back into the corporate world.

95

:

But we chose not to.

96

:

And it was, like you

said, a very scary moment.

97

:

It's actually still scary for me today.

98

:

Because

99

:

Scott: It's a lot more fulfilling though.

100

:

And, and now that another thing that's

happened over the course of years,

101

:

things make more sense than they did.

102

:

So when I hear Jeff Booth say, if

you continue to work at wherever

103

:

you're, you're working, you're just,

but you're, you're helping feed

104

:

the system that you don't like.

105

:

You have to get outside the system.

106

:

Well, that, that makes a lot more

sense to me now because we are doing

107

:

our own thing, but most people.

108

:

It's not easy to say, Oh, okay,

well that makes a lot of sense.

109

:

And then this suddenly change your life.

110

:

This it's, it's one thing

to understand those words.

111

:

It's another thing to try to apply them.

112

:

So it's one thing to say, Oh, I can see

how you skydive and you watch somebody

113

:

on a, on a TV show or whatever it is.

114

:

And then it's another thing when

you actually put yourself in a

115

:

parachute and go up and jump out.

116

:

Right.

117

:

And so when you take a leap,

whether it's to homeschool.

118

:

It's to leave your job and do something

different to start a new adventure Like

119

:

it there's a there's a moment there.

120

:

You have to make a decision I'm gonna

go I'm gonna go forward with this and

121

:

that was our moment back in December

122

:

Tali: that was our

moment back in December.

123

:

Yeah.

124

:

unknown.

125

:

Okay.

126

:

So we'll, we'll cover our year.

127

:

Kind of chronologically so that it would

make sense when we first started our only

128

:

Goal

129

:

was to expose was to introduce HODL up

to as many people as possible because

130

:

it was Such a critical component in

myself believing that Bitcoin is a

131

:

thing that I should pay attention to

and we just felt that if everybody

132

:

Had reluctant family and friends that

they were having trouble reaching.

133

:

Huddle Up could be a really

wonderful tool in their hands

134

:

that they can share Bitcoin with.

135

:

So we've, we basically reached out

to as many Bitcoin meetups as we

136

:

could possibly drive to and just

offer to host Huddle Up game night.

137

:

And we just got in the car and just drove.

138

:

Scott: Right.

139

:

But a year later, or nearly a year

later, what I learned from that is

140

:

throughout the course of the year,

it became more and more clear.

141

:

The game helped open up opportunities

for us to meet people, right?

142

:

That was the, we went out and we talked

to people and we showed them and we

143

:

answer questions or we ask questions.

144

:

This is where I realized somewhere on

that, that journey that what we're doing

145

:

is actually much bigger than ourselves.

146

:

And we now use that expression.

147

:

Frequently.

148

:

I know it comes up, you listen to like

Bitcoin veterans, they'll talk about it.

149

:

We talk about it in the context of

schooling, self custody of education.

150

:

The game is just one piece of that bigger

picture about teaching kids about money,

151

:

teaching even adults about what money is.

152

:

I guess what I'm saying is it

started out with the game, but by,

153

:

if I look throughout the course of

the year, it became more and more

154

:

clear that this was really something

that was much, much bigger than us.

155

:

And we want to really give that next

generation the tools that they need, and

156

:

multiple generations, like long after

we're We're here and this is how we

157

:

can help contribute to that and that's

the reason for this podcast This is

158

:

just another step in that evolution.

159

:

I never ever ever thought I would be

Doing a podcast But you go back and

160

:

it's it started with the game Then it

was the in person events and being in

161

:

person is so so so so critical you got

to get out and and try to find people

162

:

who Who think like you, where it can

help you with that next, the next step.

163

:

And then if you have something,

then to give it back.

164

:

So if we have, we have a lot of

experience with homeschooling and maybe

165

:

games are one piece of that education.

166

:

Great.

167

:

That's our piece.

168

:

Let's go, let's contribute

with, you know, with that.

169

:

So that as a, I know it gets a little

philosophical, maybe I shouldn't go

170

:

that deep on it, but it started as a

game and it's so, so much more now.

171

:

Um, and now look where, I mean,

it's expanded for you for women

172

:

and it's expanding for things

with bringing the kids in.

173

:

It's just, it's getting, it's getting

to be much more than just this,

174

:

this game that people can play.

175

:

Tali: getting, to be much more than

just this game that people can Sort

176

:

of forced me to pay attention to

this whole concept of Bitcoin, which

177

:

is the point of all of this anyway.

178

:

And once you go down that Bitcoin rabbit

hole, and you start to see the world

179

:

completely differently, completely

through a different pair of lens, right?

180

:

So, for example, like, you know

that, that movie with, Ryan

181

:

Reynolds, what's, what's it called?

182

:

Anyway that movie where you know, he put

he put on a pair of glasses and suddenly

183

:

He was seeing signs on buildings and

floating in the air and you take off

184

:

the glasses and, you know, everything

is just the way there was, which is

185

:

the way the rest of the people see it.

186

:

And then he puts it back on again.

187

:

And it's all these words, except

that as Bitcoiners, we can't ever

188

:

take those glasses off again.

189

:

We're now just seeing the

world completely differently.

190

:

And the game.

191

:

The reason, at least for me, when

we started traveling was because I

192

:

really wanted everybody to have the

opportunity to put on those glasses.

193

:

They may choose to look away,

but they're never going to look

194

:

at the world the same again.

195

:

And then at least they have the full

information to make their own decisions.

196

:

Everybody has the right to

make their own decisions.

197

:

They don't all have to be Bitcoiners,

but at least we can show them

198

:

that there's a thing there.

199

:

So, When we started traveling and

sharing HODL up and with people with

200

:

Bitcoiners, what we realized was that

almost every Bitcoiner has family slash

201

:

friends slash people they really care

about who just don't understand Bitcoin

202

:

to the point where they're in the

203

:

They show animosity toward the whole

concept So we see the game as a bridge

204

:

builder between the Bitcoiner and their

family and friends That they can have

205

:

fun and in the fun just pique their

curiosity a little bit because The truth

206

:

is nobody will come to bitcoin unless

they have a real need for it But at least

207

:

like plan to see so this is a bridge

builder This is a c planner and that's

208

:

the way I saw it as we were traveling

and everything else is Brought it from

209

:

our experience from our encounters

with people and even more needs that we

210

:

identified in the industry Which brought

us to create this podcast which brought

211

:

me to create orange hatter, etc They all

stem from this understanding that we're

212

:

just trying to bring awareness to people

213

:

Scott: That's a good segue.

214

:

And if you just look at the year

again, this can be a year in review.

215

:

So December we finally reach out we meet

some other people who are Bitcoiners,

216

:

we get to meet them in person.

217

:

That's the big deal.

218

:

We play our game.

219

:

We start to travel.

220

:

The, the other place besides

Bitcoin park was trying to go to

221

:

the homeschooling conferences and

that message that you're talking

222

:

about trying to reach other people.

223

:

And that's, and that's what inspired me

to write that article that homeschoolers

224

:

are Bitcoiners that don't know it yet.

225

:

There are a lot of people that.

226

:

That are going to benefit from this this

message, but it's not something that you

227

:

just say one time and people understand

and That it was one of the things that

228

:

I look back on last year where Don't

I don't know what the right word is.

229

:

I guess I wasn't I don't know if

it's humility Like I just thought

230

:

hey, look, this is so obvious.

231

:

Look at this this message This is gonna

be awesome these people really really

232

:

are gonna benefit from this and their

kids are gonna benefit from it and And we

233

:

drive and we set up a booth and we have

this, and then we have the, the strange

234

:

looks like we're like aliens, right?

235

:

Like what the hell is this Bitcoin

thing that you guys are talking about?

236

:

And people are steering clear of us.

237

:

that was kind of an eyeopening moment for

me to, to realize just because we see it,

238

:

we need to put ourselves in the shoes of

others on how they're seeing it, if we're

239

:

going to reach them with that message.

240

:

It, it, they're not going to probably get,

get it the same way I came to it one way.

241

:

Like you said, you came

to it a different way.

242

:

Everybody has their own way.

243

:

this, it's just something

that we have to keep in mind.

244

:

All of us, all Bitcoiners

and all parents have to think

245

:

about this with their kids too.

246

:

You have to think about how

they're perceiving the world and

247

:

how you're going to reach them.

248

:

And just, you cannot assume that

if you say the words that other

249

:

people are going to understand.

250

:

What you're saying.

251

:

So there was a big lesson there

for me in terms of trying to see

252

:

things from another point of view.

253

:

, Tali: I echo that because even with our

own kids, because we were so mindful

254

:

about teaching them about money when

they were growing up and we homeschooled.

255

:

It's not like we school them and

they never heard about money.

256

:

Like we emphasized money education with

the knowledge that we had pre Bitcoin.

257

:

So our kids grew up with certain

understanding about money, which we

258

:

now know is pretty much all untrue.

259

:

And then suddenly Scott and

I changed our perception.

260

:

And now we're trying to get

our kids to also pivot with us.

261

:

What we realized was that they, even

though they have the money education,

262

:

from homeschooling until they personally

have a need or they see the personal

263

:

effect from the current fiat system.

264

:

Even they don't pivot with us

being our kids being, we're

265

:

a very close knit family.

266

:

Clearly we were their,

their primary teachers.

267

:

And still it was hard for

us to Help them pivot their

268

:

perception with us when we did.

269

:

Scott: and think, it's

extended family too.

270

:

It's parents, it's siblings,

and then it's friends.

271

:

You, and I, I had my reunion this year,

and it's not, the we take for we talk

272

:

to other people in the space frequently

or we listen to the same resources.

273

:

it doesn't mean that this is like

the, the view that everybody has.

274

:

It's not, it's not that obvious.

275

:

There's a lot of noise out there,

lot of noise with social media,

276

:

a lot of noise with the news.

277

:

it's a very contentious time.

278

:

We don't, I don't have

to explain all that.

279

:

People can go with it as they will

with the politics, but we're very

280

:

divided and people get their, their

information from one place or another.

281

:

For me, it was, it was classmates too.

282

:

So it was, it was family.

283

:

It was friends.

284

:

It was colleagues.

285

:

Not everybody sees and understands the

same things that we just take for granted,

286

:

uh, when you're in this space for a while.

287

:

Tali: And so that's why we, Scott and

I, not only have been telling people

288

:

about the board game, which worked for

me, but now we're also trying to create

289

:

other touch points for Bitcoiners to

be able to reach their family members.

290

:

So for example, I started a podcast called

Orange Hatter and it was because I saw a

291

:

gap in the industry where women were not.

292

:

Necessarily being spoken to in a

feminine way, because women talking

293

:

to women, they have very different

conversations than a woman talking to

294

:

a man, and neither is better or worse.

295

:

It's just different.

296

:

And so if we're just if our goal is

to rare to raise awareness, then we

297

:

have to meet people where they are.

298

:

And some people are

299

:

So we can try to reach

them through how to hop.

300

:

Some people are conversationalists.

301

:

Maybe we can reach them through

a woman to woman conversation.

302

:

And then of course we created this

podcast, Bitcoin homeschooler to

303

:

try to simultaneously, um, help the

Bitcoiners with our experience in

304

:

homeschooling our kids over the last

20 years, but hopefully also reach

305

:

the homeschoolers that we haven't been

able to reach with just little tidbits

306

:

that they can pick up along the way.

307

:

And maybe eventually they'll get

to the point where they're ready

308

:

to hop into the rabbit hole.

309

:

So we're just creating different touch

points for people to be able to bring

310

:

their loved ones toward the rabbit hole.

311

:

Scott: Right.

312

:

And even though we're, we're

stumbling trying to figure out how

313

:

to do that, this has been the most.

314

:

fulfilling things.

315

:

So there's the frustration of going,

for example, going to a homeschooling

316

:

conference and being like, how

come these people don't get it?

317

:

Talking to your own kids and saying,

mom and dad, , we have this insight.

318

:

We want to share it with you.

319

:

It's gonna make a big difference.

320

:

And then we struggle with

just reaching our own.

321

:

Our own family.

322

:

On the other hand, when you look at the

game and you look at the in person events

323

:

and you have a conversation with someone

who, for example, they're thinking about

324

:

starting a family or maybe they have

young kids and you can make an impact on

325

:

somebody or someone plays a game and they,

they start to open up to Bitcoin is about,

326

:

or you reach some women that can join

you on whichever ways you guys connect.

327

:

There is something so fulfilling

and again, I'll keep slipping

328

:

back to the philosophical this

is something bigger than us when

329

:

so when I talk with Gabe about

330

:

Operation Bitcoin and what he's doing

with with veterans Same type of thing

331

:

like there's something when you When

you realize the thing that you're

332

:

working on is connected to something

that you are passionate about It is you

333

:

you have purpose And there is, it is

so much more fulfilling than anything

334

:

else that I have ever worked on.

335

:

Yes, we don't know exactly

how to do e commerce.

336

:

We're learning.

337

:

Yes, we don't know how to do podcasting.

338

:

We're learning.

339

:

Technical aspects of Nostra,

Bitcoin, Lightning, etc.

340

:

Get it.

341

:

We're learning.

342

:

But this is so fulfilling knowing

that this is part of a bigger purpose.

343

:

And every time you reach someone

344

:

it

345

:

doesn't have to be that you, you orange

pilled 10, 000 people or a million people.

346

:

If you make a connection with

your family, that's awesome.

347

:

You make a connection with your

spouse, that, that is invaluable.

348

:

Like the priceless, the, the

little priceless video that

349

:

you did for the conference.

350

:

Right?

351

:

I mean, it was like, cost of a

movie or something is, what was it?

352

:

Tali: dinner 000 families

united in Bitcoin

353

:

Scott: priceless

354

:

That captures it.

355

:

And that, that to me is so motivating.

356

:

I'm frustrated that we

made mistakes in the past.

357

:

I'm frustrated we didn't see the

light to get in on Bitcoin earlier.

358

:

I am so grateful though that we're

in the spot where we're in now.

359

:

Where we are part of something bigger.

360

:

And, and we are figuring this thing out.

361

:

Whatever it is.

362

:

With money, with Bitcoin, with

Entrepreneurship, but it's so fulfilling

363

:

and then I I think that shows in

your energy when you talk to people.

364

:

And I also think that shows to your

kids when you're working on something

365

:

you believe in as opposed to going

to a job that you hate, right?

366

:

There's there's so many other

ways that this can, that it's

367

:

more than just the money.

368

:

It's more than just the

technology that it impacts.

369

:

Really how you look at life

and, and how you do things.

370

:

And then, the kids are

looking at us, right?

371

:

So we're setting a personal

example to, by doing this.

372

:

So, anyway, again, I go down

the philosophical stuff.

373

:

This is, um, this is, this

is gonna be a lot of fun.

374

:

Maybe we should, uh, think about how

we wrap up the:

375

:

to what we want to get done in 24.

376

:

What do you think?

377

:

Tali: Yeah, let's talk about 2024.

378

:

Scott: All right.

379

:

So one of the things that I'm thinking

of is we're going to continue to go

380

:

to the homeschooling conferences.

381

:

We're going to do one this year and

each time we're just going to keep

382

:

taking a slightly different tact

on how we, we approach that market.

383

:

I still believe that they're

all, they all have Bitcoin.

384

:

Principles that they have.

385

:

They just haven't, we haven't

been able to, to reach them yet.

386

:

I think we need to continue

to do the orange hatter, reach

387

:

out to women and the Bitcoin

homeschool or reach out to parents.

388

:

I think that's critical.

389

:

And then we absolutely have

to continue in person events.

390

:

That's where, I mean, I get it.

391

:

Audiobooks and podcasts

are great for learning.

392

:

Nothing replaces going to

a conference, like I would

393

:

Tali: not even a meetup where you,

you're in a room with 10, 15 people.

394

:

I love those interactions the most because

you're really getting to know each other.

395

:

And and what we stand for and it's

it's not like you have to interact

396

:

with 100 people at the same time So,

you know an evening of a game night.

397

:

I just I love that I I think I

would like to do more of that.

398

:

The other thing is

399

:

Scott: Now you're recorded on saying that.

400

:

I know how much you love games, so

401

:

Tali: Okay, just so everybody

knows I am NOT a board gamer Scott

402

:

can tell you that he and our son

403

:

they're the

404

:

board gamers, but it is what

405

:

Scott: Orange

406

:

Tali: built me.

407

:

So here I am.

408

:

But anyway, I think from the point

of view of reaching more women,

409

:

which I think is really critical.

410

:

I am in the process of, um, Creating

more touch points for women.

411

:

So one of the things I want to do.

412

:

One of the things that I am doing is

hosting a woman's retreat in Yucatan,

413

:

Mexico in March, March 16th to the 20th.

414

:

And I like to address the need that

women have to remember to recharge

415

:

themselves because we're such we're,

we have a lot of windows open up.

416

:

any one time, you know, as women trying

to take care of ourselves, our career,

417

:

our families, our children, everything

that we sometimes forget that until we

418

:

fill up our own battery, we can't really

be as effective as we would like to be.

419

:

So the woman's retreat is one touch point.

420

:

Other things that are in the

works, which I will announce later.

421

:

Um, just I, my focus for me is to

create more touch points to reach women.

422

:

And, uh, especially moms, because if

you reach one mom, you reach her kids.

423

:

If our kids are

424

:

Scott: young enough.

425

:

Yeah, that's where, I

almost interrupted you.

426

:

That's where I wanted you to get

to is that these are connected.

427

:

You, you've made a comment in the

past, this is what I was going to

428

:

hope you'd expand on and, and that is.

429

:

If we want Bitcoin adoption

to increase, you have to have

430

:

women, you have to have moms.

431

:

Otherwise, you're, you're going to,

you're going to leave out half the

432

:

population there and all their kids.

433

:

Right.

434

:

To me, they're very connected.

435

:

And yeah, if you can, I know

you can expand on it from

436

:

a woman's standpoint, but

437

:

Tali: The majority of the Bitcoin

meetups take place at either a

438

:

restaurant or a bar, mostly pubs.

439

:

For a woman, and some women are okay

with that, but a lot of women would

440

:

prefer more of the homey feeling.

441

:

So like the home parties, like the

Tupperware parties or the, uh, what's

442

:

another party like makeup party,

like Mary Kay parties, you know,

443

:

just,

444

:

Scott: or actually like a play

date kind of let's all meet

445

:

in the park kind of thing.

446

:

You know, you can, well,

447

:

Tali: talking about more like a

home, like almost like a home Bible

448

:

study thing where people, Just kind

of gathering intimate settings.

449

:

You're sitting on a sofa, everybody's

got a cup of coffee or a cup of tea.

450

:

And then they're chatting in

an intimate, casual setting.

451

:

And that's when you really

make that connection.

452

:

Whereas if you're sitting in the pub

and the music is loud, then you're

453

:

having to, you know, order food.

454

:

And you're talking only across

the table to the person who's.

455

:

Close to you, you know,

sitting close to you.

456

:

It's just it's a completely

different environment.

457

:

And so my focus this year is to try

to reach women through the living room

458

:

Scott: Right.

459

:

So I guess 2024.

460

:

For

461

:

2024.

462

:

So to me

463

:

the we, we need to continue the

momentum we've built with, with free

464

:

market kids, reaching out with games,

with lessons, with, and now we've

465

:

expanded it to these, these podcasts

466

:

really

467

:

don't see any other way than to continue

the in person type events, uh, the, the

468

:

experiences we had, for example, at the

UN conference before, what do you call it?

469

:

Adopting Bitcoin in El

Salvador was fantastic.

470

:

I have a personal goal.

471

:

Personal desire to help

with the veteran side.

472

:

So I'm going to be working with

Gabe to try to support everything I

473

:

can for operation Bitcoin as well.

474

:

and then we'll, we'll keep building games.

475

:

We'll keep building content.

476

:

We'd like to, I think we should start

getting, I know we talked about how

477

:

would we do this, but what would be

the right type of lessons that would,

478

:

we could formalize to go with the

games or other things that we've done.

479

:

Especially for the homeschooling audience.

480

:

It's a different audience than

the people that you'll meet at

481

:

a Bitcoin conference or meetup.

482

:

So that's something that

we need to explore as well.

483

:

And the digital huddle up.

484

:

I do think we, we have an opportunity

here to, to break through all

485

:

the friction of supply chains.

486

:

Board games are great, but

they're expensive to ship.

487

:

Not everybody can afford them.

488

:

If you pay two or three times the

value of the game just to pay for

489

:

your import duties and shipping,

people are just not going to buy it.

490

:

And Bitcoin is a global type thing.

491

:

So I'm looking, I'm also looking

for ways to break down those

492

:

barriers and a digital version of

our material is one way to do that

493

:

Tali: covers it.

494

:

That's, that's 2024.

495

:

Scott: Great, let's just

wrap it up there then.

496

:

Say Happy New Year, we're looking

if anybody has specific topics that

497

:

they would like to cover on this.

498

:

We are learning as we go and we're

excited to meet as many people as we can.

499

:

So I hope to meet many of you in

on somewhere along the way in:

500

:

, Tali: if there's any interest in having

a live Q and a session, , for those

501

:

of you who are new to homeschooling or

encountering some specific challenges,

502

:

homeschooling your kids, and you'd

like to pick our brain, let us know.

503

:

And if there's enough interest,

we'll set up a regular time.

504

:

Scott: Why don't you make it

a, we could think about it as a

505

:

panel almost, like the, at TabConf

506

:

Tali: we can, but that's

not what I'm talking about.

507

:

I'm talking about Just people having

access to us to ask questions because

508

:

they listen to our podcast and they would

like our opinion, not a topic specific

509

:

panel thing because if they have an issue

and they just have a question, we can

510

:

either invite them to, to send us a, um,

511

:

Scott: We can do a live

512

:

Tali: us a, yeah, exactly.

513

:

If we did a live stream on YouTube,

like YouTube live, we can record it

514

:

Scott: well, I mean, look at

what, look at what, What Matt and

515

:

Marty do with Rabbit Hole Recap.

516

:

, You can record that and listen

to it later, like I usually will

517

:

just because of the schedule.

518

:

There are many people though,

who log in live and if they

519

:

have questions, they just ask..

520

:

the pre

521

:

Tali: they do, um, YouTube live.

522

:

Scott: Yeah, but they also are doing, it's

Nostra, I forget the name of it now, but

523

:

they're, they're doing, there's a, there's

a Nostra nest and you could do both.

524

:

So if, if you, if there's a pre coiner who

hears about us, they're interested in it,

525

:

but they don't have the same background.

526

:

They're not going to know what

a Nostra nest is, but it's a

527

:

Bitcoiner who hears about us.

528

:

Great.

529

:

So you set up both and, and just.

530

:

You make it available, this, this goes

exactly back to our point earlier is,

531

:

we have to put ourselves in the shoes

of those who we're trying to reach and

532

:

what are the ways that they would be

able to, to access and then we, we make

533

:

ourselves available through those means.

534

:

Tali: Yeah, so if there's any

interest in that send us an email

535

:

Scott: Is there any, anybody out

there, anybody who's technically

536

:

competent enough to help us set some

of that stuff up that we need to, you

537

:

Tali: YouTube live I already

know how to set it up

538

:

Scott: do you, you

know, I do a Nos or Nest

539

:

Tali: that I don't know.

540

:

And I don't know if he can

record it and host it anywhere.

541

:

Scott: Well, you,

542

:

Tali: If there's any interest, if you have

any interest in regular office hour or

543

:

just regular Q and a session, DMS ads,

free market kids on Twitter, or what are

544

:

other handles that you want to share?

545

:

Scott: other people

seeing on social media?

546

:

Yeah, if you're a woman

listening to this, and you

547

:

specifically

548

:

Tali: if you're, if you're a

woman listening to this and you

549

:

specifically want to talk to me

about Orange Hatter, you can check

550

:

out the website, orangehatter.

551

:

com or you can email me

directly, tolly at orangehatter.

552

:

com or you can reach me at

tolly at freemarketkids.

553

:

com as well.

554

:

Scott: Yeah.

555

:

It's gonna be great.

556

:

24 is gonna be, you have the

halving, the ETFs, the election.

557

:

It's gonna be crazy.

558

:

Crazy year.

559

:

It's gonna be a very exciting time.

560

:

So, Happy New Year everybody.

561

:

Can't wait to see you in person.

562

:

Take care.

563

:

Tali: See you next year.

564

:

Bye.

Profile picture for Tali Lindberg

Tali Lindberg

Hey there, wonderful listeners! I'm Tali, and I'm so excited to welcome you to our podcast today. For two decades, I was knee-deep in the incredible journey of homeschooling my four amazing kids. It was a world of boundless creativity, filled with lesson plans, school projects, sports, and beautiful chaos. But when my children all graduated, a brand-new, unforeseen adventure awaited me - the captivating world of Bitcoin.

It took three years for Scott to bring me into Bitcoin. I hesitated at first, Bitcoin's intricacies seemed daunting, and my plate was already quite full. But he persisted, going so far as to create a fantastic bitcoin-mining board game called HODL UP to demystify it all. Before I knew it, I was down the Bitcoin rabbit hole. Just like my homeschooling journey, I took it one step at a time, learning and evolving as I ventured further.

Now, here we are today, and I couldn't be more thrilled to be part of the vibrant Bitcoin community. In an unexpected twist, my husband Scott and I realized that our homeschooling experiences can be a treasure trove of insights for Bitcoiners who, like us, want to take charge of their children's education. So, in addition to sharing our Bitcoin knowledge with Precoiners with HODL UP and the Orange Hatter podcast, we're here to offer tips and guidance for Bitcoin-homeschoolers. It's going to be an incredible journey, and I can't wait to share it with all of you. Enjoy the ride!
